I think only one of these is also part of my original Chunkster Challenge, which I set at five, but I think will end up more like ten...because other books I placed on this challenge and my top ten to start 2014 are also chunksters! And, I didn't have to decide my chunksters ahead of time, so if I get to these instead, it still counts! It's going to be an amazing reading year.

I'm so glad to see Middlesex on so many lists! And I'm really curious what you'll think of House of Leaves. It totally toyed with my brain when I read it in college and I really need to pick it up again.
ReplyDeleteMy brother bought me House of Leaves for Christmas in 2006 I think. He didn't read it, I think he just saw the format was different and thought it was cool to have as a book lover. But someone reviewed it recently and I honestly didn't hear of the book from anyone until then. I will make sure to review it!

ReplyDeleteI put Memoirs on there because I've never heard a bad thing about it. And I'm really glad to see so many people glad to see Middlesex on two of my lists! Especially when it's all my favorite bloggers saying so!

ReplyDeleteI was doing that the last few weeks of December. I think I had four books going...one nonfiction on my Kindle, some Dickens's shorts, and two other books beginning.

ReplyDeleteGreat list Jennine!! I'm still upset about loaning House of Leaves to my then boyfriend and never getting it back. It's a curious story...one that frightened me a bit. Good thing my now husband was living next door to me at the time so I could run over there for company. ;)

DeleteWhat a great variety of books. I'm not at all surprised to see Crime and Punishment listed as a chunkster but had no idea that Memoirs of a Geisha and Divergent qualified. I hope you like Memoirs as much as I did :)
ReplyDeleteI don't think Memoir of a Geisha qualifies as a Chunkster. The Divergent books just make it...just over the 450 page mark set by the rules of the challenge. I've always thought of books with 700+ pages as chunksters, so at 450, I've got lots of options!
DeleteOh, haha, I didn't realize that not all of your TBR books count for the chunkster challenge as well. I agree that 450 pages is not bad of a cutoff though :)

ReplyDeleteOoooo...House of Leaves! One of the most unusual books I've ever read. Not sure I could write a review of it bc I'm not sure I understood it when all was said and done.
ReplyDeleteI'm going to read Divergent as well- we should do a tag team review thing- or at the least link to each other's reviews. According to my 15 yr old niece it is the best book EVER. Does hyperbole run in the family? Maybe a bit!
House of Leaves has me very curious from all the different things I've heard about it. Tag team/links sounds like a plan! I'm definitely reading it by movie release time in March! Gotta love some well meaning hyperbole!
