"I imagine, then, that we are all candle flames, greasy-bright, fluttering in the darkness and the howl of the wind....They will blow us all out, one by one, until it is only their own light by which they see themselves."
Burial Rites, by Hannah Kent

Have a good week! And may the right words come to you at the right time :)
I have heard so many great things about this one already. Thanks for sharing, now I know for sure I need to put this one on the TBR pile.
ReplyDeleteMe too - I read soooo many blog posts praising it, I just had to add it to the pile. And then it's being made into a movie, so that moved it up the list!
DeleteI loved that book! So many great sentences to choose from in it. :) Nice choice!
ReplyDeleteWow, if the rest is as good, I can't wait. I literally just started it last night and only read that first page to get a feel for it.
DeleteGood sentence! I've heard this book is good, so I can't wait til you finish and review it. Soon please? :D
ReplyDeleteAiming for this week!
DeleteYessssssssssss. The writing in this book is brilliant, especially the first couple pages.
ReplyDeleteThere aren't many books I've read where it's evident from the first page!
DeleteI just realized last night that this one is on my NOOK! I'd totally forgotten about it! Huzzah!
ReplyDeleteTalk about a pleasant surprise!!!!
DeleteI think I have the book on my TBR or on my kindle. Can't remember!
ReplyDeleteI hope you do!!!!
DeleteBeautiful. I'll have to read it before seeing the movie :)
ReplyDeleteYes, this is a good one to read the book first. There are two narrators - first person and a third person narrator - and I'm not sure how they will handle it in a movie script. But the first person narration is beautiful.
